Have extra yard waste? City can help

Some Terrace residents manicure their property more than others, going beyond what our grounds crew handles. That can result in the need to get rid of excess yard waste. The City of Troy can help with that.

In an announcement made this week, Mayor Carmella Mantello encouraged residents to bag leaves and yard waste and leave the bags at curbside on Thursday evenings when they  normally put out their garbage containers and recycling bins.

Leaves must be placed in brown recyclable paper leaf bags. Pickup will continue through either the first snowfall or the first week of December; whichever comes first.

The City reminds residents that leaves placed in plastic bags will not be collected; bags containing dirt, sand, rocks, sod, or other such materials will not be collected. Brush should not be placed in leaf bags.

A reminder: Skyview Landscaping has told us its crews are scheduled to be on the Terrace next Wednesday or Thursday for leaf removal. That schedule is, as always, weather dependent.
