TROY -- Shirley Bouleris Fischer, age 95, died August 12, 2024, at Samaritan Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Napolean and Elizabeth Quinn Bouleris of Cohoes. She was the beloved wife of William W. Fischer, deceased.
Shirley resided at the Nichols Family Home in Troy under the loving care of Debbie Nichols, Tammy Roberts, and Wendy Dame. Over the years, Shirley also lived in Cohoes, Niskayuna, Rensselaer, and Watervliet, and in Harrisonburg, VA.
Shirley is survived by her stepdaughters, Cheryl Fischer of Malta, NY, and Kristy Lee (Thomas) Hofstead of Flowery Branch, GA.; her grandson, Brandon Todd Hofstead (Michelle); her granddaughter, Leanne Sara Hofstead; her great-granddaughters, Haley and Audrey Hofstead. She also is survived by several nephews; nieces; and great-nephews and great-nieces, Craig Taylor (Crissy), Brent Taylor (Lynn), Liz Paul Quero (Jorge), and Ben Taylor (Emily Ty), who were an important part of her life in her later years. She also was very close to her dear cousin, Sister Maria (Marva) Bouleris, and her good friends, Cecile (Che Che) O'Connor and Sister Mary Anne Rodgers.
Shirley also was predeceased by her beloved sisters Anne Taylor and Dorothy Paul, her brother John Joseph Bouleris, and her nephew, Phillip Paul.
Shirley worked for General Electric and the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) before retiring in 1988 after 34 years. She was a volunteer at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Virginia for four years, and a volunteer at Saint Mary's Hospital for 11 years. An active member of the Troy Chapter of AARP #3991, Shirley served as vice president for two years, secretary for one year, social secretary for one year, and also served on the board for one year.
